Christmas 2010

Merry Christmas from our house to yours!

We have enjoyed our week of vacation before Christmas. We went to Kansas City, played around Springfield, baked goodies, and wrapped presents. It has been busy getting ready for Christmas, but we have also enjoyed some time relaxing together too!

We had lots of fun visiting with family in Kansas City. We had fun on Sunday and Monday in Kansas City with the Nebergall's and Rosebrough's. Garrin even got the chance to try out Ice Skating. He and mommy had fun at Crown Center on the outdoor ice rink. He also enjoyed playing around the Hallmark Crown Center Christmas tree in the wooden toy trucks and train. It was a gorgeous December afternoon and we took advantage of the warmer weather outside!
We also had fun with Aunt Audrey and Nana Mac today. We were treated to a yummy lunch at the Back Porch Tea Room in Willard and then went back to our house to relax. Garrin had fun unwrapping everyone's presents. It was nice to enjoy the time together!

We look forward to many more celebrations this Christmas season! We will update pictures as we have time. Here are some photos from December:

Halloween 2010

It was a busy Halloween weekend!

We enjoyed starting off the weekend with no school on Friday. It was off to Silver Dollar City to enjoy the last weekend of the Harvest Festival. The weather was wonderful as we strolled through the streets, crunched through the fall leaves, and rode the rides for the last time this season. Friday night Garrin had fun carving a jack-o-lantern with mommy. He picked out the shapes while mommy carved.

There was plenty more fun on Saturday. Saturday morning, Garrin spent time with Nana "D" and Papa "D". They had f
un at the Spooky Halloween Train.
There was lots of candy and lots of fun aboard the Joplin and Springfield Railway. Saturday night it was off to Willard's Safe Halloween night at the Willard Rec. Center. Garrin had lots of fun as he jumped in the bounce house with other kids. He jumped, climbed, and slid until the sun set!

Sunday was full of Halloween fun. We fixed pumpkin pancakes for a Halloween breakfast. Then it wa
s off to church for Children's Sunday. Sunday night led to even more adventures at church. Garrin enjoyed "trunk or treating" with Grammie and Papa Steve. We decorated our trunk with Garrin's trains and handed out lots and lots of candy. (We even won the "Best Trunk" prize!) Garrin had fun chugging through the parking lot, going for a hayride, and playing games inside!

All Aboard for Spooktacular!

The Dickerson Park Zoo has a new engineer. Garrin was able to trick or treat at the zoo during Spooktacular. We enjoyed a fun time on Thursday, October 21, 2010 at Spooktacular. The Friends of the Zoo had a special night just for them to enjoy the activities and events. We saw lots of jack-o-lanterns, made a donut, walked the zoo, and rode the train. All aboard for Spooktacular!

Fall Fun with Cousins

We had a fun day with cousins today at Silver Dollar City. We enjoyed a fun fall day! The weather was perfect and the kids had a blast.

We began our fun in the city with a train ride! You guessed it--they robbed Garrin and Ashlyn. Luckily Nana "D" and Papa "D" had only given them pennies as they rode the Silver Dollar Steam Engine. After the train, it was off to the Flooded Mine boat ride. Ashlyn and Garrin had fun shooting at the miners while Brayden was on the look out. Next, it was off to the Grand Exposition for lots of carnival fun! Garrin and Ashlyn rode their first roller coaster with Trishna and Rachelle. They quickly obtained their green wrist band from the measuring station where they were now entitled to many fun rides. Garrin and Ashlyn had a tea party with Matt and Terry in the Spinning Tea Cups. Then, it was off to fly high in the butterflies. All three cousins flew in circles with Terry and Rachelle. Before lunch, we made our way to the ladybugs where Garrin and Ashlyn went in circles. We had lunch by the Silver Dollar City waterfall and then it was off to Geyser Gulch. We ended our time together splashing in the water.

It was a fun time together. We can't wait to go back soon!

Potty Time!

It's potty time! Garrin has been very curious this week about using the potty. He has tried using the potty everyday at school. Garrin has been asking the teacher if can sit on the potty. She has been wonderful to let him try. So far he has been pretty successful!

Garrin has some exciting new things as he begins his new bathroom adventure! He has been wearing pull-ups instead of diapers at school. Tonight, we broke out the new Thomas the Tank Engine underwear! He had fun running around like a train wearing his new underwear. Before bath time he even shook his little Thomas booty! You can also see his fancy new Thomas potty seat as climbed all aboard the potty.

We have quite the adventure ahead of us as we potty this weekend!

Garrin's First Day of Preschool

Garrin began school today! It was his first day at Willard Tiger Cubs Preschool. He was able to wear his new Thomas backpack and carry his Thomas lunchbox to school this morning. It was hard to say goodbye to mommy and daddy this morning, but he quickly cheered up and had a great day learning and playing with friends.

He had a full day of fun. He did really well with the transition from Summer Break to Preschool. He met lots of new friends today! He has a total of seven students in his two-year-old class. They played together, sang, ate, shared stories, and had fun with their teacher, Mrs. Karen. He had so much fun that he didn't even take a nap!

July 2010

Obviously it has been a long time since we have posted anything! Time has flown by and we haven't taken time to update our blog. We have had lots of adventures this July. It has been busy, but fun!

The weekend of the fourth of July was busy! We had fun on Saturday night with Nana "D" and Papa "D" as we celebrated in Willard. We grilled at home and then headed to Willard for the excitement. We had fun at the Willard 4th of July Parade. There was lots of candy flying through the air as we watched the floats, marching bands, and much more! Later that evening, Garrin enjoyed his first big fireworks display at the Willard Park. He enjoyed watching the fireworks as he covered his ears!

On Sunday, it was off to Grammie's and Papa Steve's in Stockton. It was lots of fun as we grilled outside for supper. Then it was down to the lake for a boat ride on "Grammie's Lake". After a short boat ride in the kayaks, Garrin drove Papa Steve's truck back to the house. We had fun setting off a few fireworks. Garrin enjoyed the sparklers the best!

We decided to take two nights and get-a-way to Branson for a few days. We wanted to have some time to relax and enjoy time away before things gear up for school. Garrin had fun showboating on the Showboat Branson Belle. He loved the boat, the food, and the entertainment. It was a lot of fun to cruise around tablerock lake in a huge paddleboat!

Our second day led us to the Branson Scenic Railway. We had fun on a two hour ride from Branson Landing down into Arkansas. Garrin loved seeing the train, high-fiving the conductor, getting his ticket punched, and all the other railway experiences. The scenery was pretty; however, Garrin's favorite part were the two tunnels! It was a fun day aboard the railway!

Indoor Winter Fun

We had a blast last weekend! We began our Saturday with our traditional "family breakfast". We had fun cooking french toast and scrambling eggs together. Then it was off to Ozark for some indoor fun. The city of Ozark, MO has opened a new community center that has an indoor waterpark. We spent over two hours there on Saturday morning. We had fun floating in the lazy river, splashing in the water features, climbing the play equipment, and swimming in the water. Garrin loved the water and was sad to leave the fun behind! We finished our morning by eating at Yen Cheng, our favorite chinese restaurant in Ozark. With full tummies and tired bodies we headed home for naptime. It was a fun Saturday that we will be sure to do again sometime soon!

Fun in the Snow

We had a fun day around the house today! We awoke to more snow than we had yesterday--totalling 6.5 inches. After entertaining ourselves inside for most of the morning, we decided to bundle in multiple layers and go outside. Garrin was ready to be outside! We were unsure if he would play in the snow since earlier this month he didn't care for the snow. He didn't like it because it stuck to his feet and clothes. Today he was a little more willing to try it out. Garrin enjoyed making snowballs, shoveling the snow, and riding in his stroller through the snow. After playing in the snow, it was back inside for lunch. We warmed ourselves with soup and grilled cheese. It was a great way to enjoy the cold weather. What a fun day of winter fun!
