Jada's First Rice Cereal

Garrin made cake pops tonight after dinner.  While we were enjoying the cake pops, Jada could not take her eye off of the yummy treats.  She has been very interested in our food for the past several days.  So we decided it was time for Jada to try her first rice cereal.  We had some formula left from her bottle at dinner so Trishna made the cereal.  We got Jada situated in the bumbo seat, strapped on a bib and she was ready to eat!  You can see that she was all ready with spoon in hand.  She received some coaching from "Big Brother".    Jada anxiously awaited her first bite from the spoon.  It wasn't too sloppy.  Jada did a great job with her first cereal.  She acted like she knew just what to do.  She loved it!  I think she must be a Rosebrough because she seemed to enjoy food!

Summer Fun

We have had lots of summer fun!  You can see that our summer has been filled with lots of activities with family and friends.  We can't wait to enjoy more time together as a family of four!

Happy 4th of July!

Happy 4th of July from the Rosebrough's!  We enjoyed our 4th of July back in Willard.  Garrin was able to spend the morning riding the 4th of July Train (Springfield Joplin Railway).  He rode three times!  He was so excited and can't wait until Halloween when he can ride again.

In the evening, Garrin enjoyed setting off fireworks!  He loved the smoke bombs best.  He was even brave enough to light the fuses by himself!

St. Louis Summer 2012

Meet me in St. Louis!  I had a conference in St. Louis  so Trishna, Garrin, and Jada came along for four days of fun.  It was a great opportunity to get-a-way and visit Uncle Travis.  We had a great time!

Saturday, we traveled to St. Louis.  The kids did great!  Jada slept all but about twenty minutes and Garrin took a nap for about half the trip.  When we arrived in St. Louis, we explored downtown by our hotel.  Uncle Travis brought us pizza, Garrin swam, and then we discovered that trains traveled under the sidewalks of the city!

During the day, Uncle Travis was able to help Trishna with the kids so they could enjoy the sites of St. Louis.  On Sunday, they visited the Wabash Frisco and Pacific Railroad.  It is a miniature train on a 12 inch gauge track.  It follows the Meramec River through the woods near Eureka, MO.  It is only open on Sundays, so it was the perfect opportunity for Garrin to enjoy!  That evening, we relaxed at Uncle Travis' with some authentic Mexican food.  After dinner, Uncle Travis discovered that his backyard was a great place for an imaginary train ride!

Monday they braved the heat and visited the St. Louis Zoo.  Garrin showed Jada the animals, the train, the carousel, and the children's zoo.  The Safari Pass made for a day of fun in the sun!  In the evening, we ventured onto the Metro to visit the riverfront.  We took an hour sightseeing tour on the Tom Sawyer Riverboat.  It was a fun way to see the skyline of St. Louis.

Trishna ventured out on Tuesday morning on her own.  She promised Garrin they would ride the Metro while I attended my final workshop.  They traveled into Illinois on the Metro and then came back to St. Louis Union Station before returning to the hotel.  After my conference was finished, we were all able to venture to the Science Center.  Garrin experienced his first iMAX movie--Steam Trains of the Canadian Rockies!  He didn't last the entire movie, but he was able to see and hear steam trains up close.

It was a great trip!  We had a great visit with Uncle Travis and wonderful family memories in St. Louis!

Tee Ball

Garrin has enjoyed playing tee ball this summer!  He is on a 3-4 year old team.  He was excited to be a part of the red team and to have a Willard baseball hat.

During practices and games, he has learned the fundamentals of the game.  He gets to play in the field and bat.  Each team gets to bat through the roster each time they are at bat.  Each child hits the ball while their teammates advance one base at a time.  There are no outs, strikes, or foul balls.  After the last child hits, everyone advances the bases until everyone crosses home plate.  The fielders all run after the ball and then throw the ball to their coach.  Coach Leslie and Coach Kim have been great!

Garrin's Fishing Trip

One fish, two fish, red fish, blue fish . . . Garrin was able to try out his new fishing poles this weekend!  He spent time with Nana D and Papa D while mom and dad went to see "The Color Purple".  He had fun digging up worms to fill his worm bucket in Nana D's and Papa D's  backyard.  Then it was off to the Valley Water Mill Watershed for an afternoon of fishing.  Papa D and Garrin worked together to reel in his first fish--a crappie!

Jada's Room

We had fun getting Jada's room ready this week.  After getting the extra bedroom cleaned out, we were ready to decorate.  We have spent the past few months collecting all the needed supplies from Babies-R-Us, Hobby Lobby, and Lowes.  With our supplies in hand, we were ready to execute our plan during Spring Break!

It took a team to pull off this room makeover.  Jada was our inspiration for the room while Garrin was our little helper.  He helped mom and dad paint the walls and paint the letters in baby sister's name.  Teresa Palmer was Matt's art teacher in elementary.  She works with both of us in Willard.  She did an amazing job painting a whimsical tree that will tower over Jada's crib.  Her name hangs off the main branch of the tree.

We are excited to welcome her home and show her her new room!
